Corporate America Celebrates PCB Spring Break
Panama City Beach, Fla. (March 20, 2007) – There’s more to Spring Break than sun and sand for students in Panama City Beach, Fla. The top beach destination hosts such national sponsors this year as Neutrogena, the U.S. Army, Geico and Gillette to provide free events, contests and product giveaways. Additionally, live beachfront concerts featuring top bands promise to make 2007 College Spring Break the best year yet.
Corporate sponsors hope to capture the attention of the estimated 250,000 – 300,000 college spring breakers flocking to Panama City Beach during the six-week period that runs from early March to mid April. The destination has been a favorite spot for college students since the 1950s.
“Award-winning beaches and first-rate parks, restaurants and accommodations make Panama City Beach a natural draw during spring break,” says Bob Warren, president and CEO of the Panama City Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Corporate sponsors see us as the perfect destination for mass-market research and promotions.”
This year in Panama City Beach, college students find a beachside oasis at the Neutrogena One Less Stress indoor pavilion. Panama City Beach marks this promotion’s official unveiling as part of a national campaign. Relax in cool comfort with Zen pools, fountains, aromatherapy candles and soothing music. Linen hammocks and palm trees are part of the décor. Here, spring breakers audition for the One Less Stress reality TV show. They also get complimentary massages and sample the latest Neutrogena beauty products at individual cleansing stations equipped with working sinks, mirrors and fresh disposable hand towels.
Spring Breakers seeking more than a suntan find challenging interactive displays at The U.S. Army tent located on the beach. Make your way through the U.S. Army Adventure Challenge obstacle course, featuring zip lines, climbing wall and other elements used in Army training camps. The Army Sports Zone is designed to test athletic ability with football, mechanical bull riding and other challenges. In these massive, 40-by-40-foot tents, students try out Xbox 360 games, check their email and visit a Geico microsite starring the caveman from the insurance giant’s popular television ads. The microsite provides a segue to the next set of caveman ads due out in the fall. Via this site, spring breakers are invited to caveman’s party. They can wander through his ultra cool living room, kitchen and bedroom; listen to songs on his iPod; see what’s on his flat-screen television; read his blog, and more. Real-life brand ambassadors give away sun visors, tee shirts and other goodies.
At the Techknowoverload (TKO) Tour, spring breakers check out the latest tech gear and gadgets, while registering in the Ultimate Dorm Room for a chance to win $10,000 worth of tech products. Enjoy movies in digital surround sound from inside the fully soundproofed Home Theater Pavilion, or test out the latest video games and computer systems inside the Gaming Lounge.
