Panama City Beach Tops Yahoo! List

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., (July 2, 2007) – Panama City Beach took the gold last month as the most searched beach destination in the Sunshine State.

Internet searches in June revealed more people typed in “Panama City Beach” than any other beach destination in Florida, according to the ranking just released by Yahoo! Buzz, a division of the popular online search engine.

Yahoo! ranked the Top 20 Searched Beaches across the country at the start of the summer travel season. Nationwide, Panama City Beach’s emerald-green waters and sugar-white sands earned it a spot in the Top Three, alongside Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Virginia Beach, Vir. Other seaside locales in the Yahoo! Top 20 include Daytona Beach and South Beach, Fla., and Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, and Long Beach, Calif.

Panama City Beach boasts 27 miles of sugar-white sand beaches bordering the clear, emerald-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico and St. Andrews Bay. The Northwest Florida destination enjoys recognition as a top U.S. beach from Condé Nast Traveler, USA Today, The Travel Channel, Southern Living, Dr. Beach and the Clean Beaches Council.

While sand and surf are the main draws, Panama City Beach rewards Internet searches with an array of options for fun in the sun. With predictably sunny weather, the destination welcomes travelers with outdoor concerts and festivals, fishing, golf, boat races, sporting events, and world-class dining and shopping. Family attractions are educational and fun. Among the highlights: Gulf World Marine Park; Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium; ZooWorld Zoological & Botanical Park; Coconut Creek Family Fun Park; Sea Dragon pirate cruises; and Shipwreck Island Waterpark, one of Florida’s largest water theme parks.
