What's New For Meetings Industry on 'The World's Most Beautiful Beach'
Panama City Beach, Florida (September 7, 2006) - Panama City Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce some additions and expansions in the destination. The classic beach town that has entertained generations of travelers is in the midst of a revitalizing trend that is sure to please business and leisure travelers alike, including these updates below for meetings and conventions:
Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort
Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort’s new SeaWatch Conference and Entertainment Center opens in November, 2006. Located directly on the water, the three-story complex will feature moveable, floor-to-ceiling, glass walls on the east, south and west sides, providing panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico.
The new facility will have more than 4000 square feet of fully enclosed meeting space. Amenities will include: 14-foot ceilings, 200-inch drop screens and 1080P high-definition projectors, four 50-inch plasma screens, more than 5Mb of synchronous dedicated bandwidth, as well as wired and wireless Internet access. Conference and meeting rooms will have video and teleconferencing capabilities with high-quality Polycom technology. After a long day of meetings, guests will be able to enjoy a martini, while watching the sun set from the SeaWatch Sports Bar on the facility’s top floor.
All rooms at the gulf-front Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort feature two queen-size beds, a full-sized fridge, microwave and private balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The resort boasts two restaurants, a fitness center featuring a steam room and sauna, indoor and outdoor game rooms, on-site shopping and private beach walkway. Guests can take a dip in the Polynesian-style pool with cascading waterfalls or relax in the hot tub. Little ones stay busy with Splash Around Kids’ Club and the new Lil’ Squirts Aqualand water play area. The SunSpree also offers seasonal, live entertainment by the pool deck and a nightly torch-lighting ceremony.
Edgewater Beach Resort
Edgewater Beach Resort announces the next phase of the “Enhance Edgewater” program, following the $1 million enhancement of its conference center, restaurant and Polynesian-style Lagoon Pool area. Recently, the resort unveiled its newest snack stop, Edgie’s Corner Market, featuring Starbucks Coffee®, Krispy Kreme® doughnuts, ice cream and other tasty treats. High-speed wireless Internet access has also been extended to all areas of the 110-acre property.
The latest phase of the enhancement program includes the addition of the new Meetings Pavilion. Scheduled to open in August 2007, the pavilion will be located directly behind Edgewater’s conference center and will offer approximately 20,000 square feet of covered meeting space.
The full-service Edgewater Beach Resort houses 550 beachside, one, two and three-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens, washer/dryers and private patios or balconies. Visitors have access to a half-mile of private beach, 12 pools, four hot tubs, Palapa Kids programs, full-service spa and fitness center, a nine-hole executive golf course, as well as Hombre Golf Club's 27 holes of championship golf. The nearby Shoppes at Edgewater include an ice cream parlor, deli, surf shop and Internet café.
Marriott Bay Point Resort
Marriott Bay Point Resort, a 356-room property, has 40,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including 78 suites. The resort recently increased its menu of guest services through the addition of the luxurious, 12,000 square foot Spa at Bay Point to provide a more complete resort experience.
Additionally, the Bay Point Marriott Resort is undertaking a multi-million dollar renovation that began in the fall of 2004 and is expected to continue into 2007. During the makeover, the resort will add 85 one, two, three and four-bedroom condominium units as part of its new, eight-story Reflections Building, scheduled for completion in November, 2006, with occupancy beginning in January, 2007. The renovated Club Villas at Bay Point will provide an additional 78 one and two-bedroom condominiums that overlook the new Nicklaus Design course. Bay Point will also unveil the 7,000 square foot Grand Lagoon Pool, featuring a year-round heated pool and hot tub, children’s splash pad, underwater reef and a sundeck surrounding the entire pool area.
Bay Point Marriott is situated on a 1,100-acre wildlife sanctuary approximately 15 minutes from the Panama City Airport. Recently, the resort added the Kingfish Grill & Bar and designed a Discovery Center that offers guests in-depth information and assistance for all the services and the amenities at the resort. Bay Point Marriott offers a Kid’s Club, two 18-hole PGA Championship golf courses, jogging and biking trails, on-property boat slips, restaurants, event space, and recreational activities.
The Majestic Beach Towers
Majestic Beach Towers has captured the spirit of life on the beach. Boasting more than 660 feet of beachfront on the Gulf of Mexico, Majestic also offers more than 8,000 square feet of all-new conference and meeting faciliities. The Majestic Ballroom features ocean views and 5,460 square feet of meeting space to accommodate 550 people theatre-style and 550 banquet-style. This property also offers a state-of-the art Amphitheatre that can accommodate 125 attendees.
Located in the heart of Panama City Beach, Majestic Beach Towers offers 350 condo-style units, ranging from 576 square-foot studios to 1,617 square-foot, four-bedroom configurations.
